TechnologyThe core of the system is a 2.6GHz, P4 PC running iCatcher on Windows 2000. The video cameras are fed to a Euresys Junior 4 capture card in the PC and the IP cameras are fed via the network. Pictures are uploaded to the web site when there has been movement. The upload rate depends on the activity and time of day. In addition, the IP cameras are sometimes used to upload pictures on a timed basis. Due to our total mistrust of Windows security, there is no live streaming from iCatcher to the internet. Video is captured directly or via Axis video servers. In the case of the Axis servers, VLC player and Axis Camera Explorer are used. All boxes are fed by regulated 12V supplies and some have additional control available. Exterior pictures are obtained using an Axis 214 PTZ camera and various CCTV cameras, linked to the PC, or an Axis video server.
