Box 1 – At least 6 chicks hatched a few days ago. Both parents feeding them.
Box 3 – Seemed to be going well with chicks hatching 3 days ago. However, the female has not been seen since yesterday at about mid day. The male has been returning but is confused. He has sat on the nest for short periods but has not been feeding the young. He did bring a few bits of nesting material. There is very little movement in the nest cup after a cold night. Unfortunately there is no high power lighting in this box. That, plus older chicks and a more experienced (?) male allowed a few motherless blue tits to survive in a previous year. Probably a lost cause. Cameras will probably be switched off in a day or so.
Box 4 – Many blue tit chicks (>6) hatched a few days ago and both parents are feeding them.
Box 5 – The blue tit chicks can now be seen above the nest cup rim. Both parents feeding.
Box 7 – Chicks hatched yesterday but can not be seen yet. Both parents feeding.
