We have accumulated a lot of bits, that have been used over the last few years of this project, that are now surplus. It is, or was, all working but most requires some knowledge of CCTV and/or electronics. 2 Panasonic F10 shoulder mount cameras etc, Pulnix high res. mono, basic colour board camera.

New Panasonic WV-CP244 1/3″ colour (£20)
JVC TK-C600E 1/3″ colour + AI lens (£20)
JVC TK-C1381 1/2″ Colour YC & CVBS + AI lens (£25)
Baxall mono with 8-80mm lens untested (£15)

Ipix CV-D2000 2 Megapixel in “vandal resistant” dome without lens (had a fish eye lens but I am keeping that). This is for spares or repair only. Displays message “The imager does not appear to be attached”. With manual.

Used JVC TK-C676 PTZ internal dome camera with mounting plate (£50)
Unused but unboxed TK-C675B PTZ internal dome camera with plate etc (£100)
Both the above work with most Axis servers or a JVC controller. I do have some software (tested on W2k probably will not work on Vista or W7) that will control them using a USB-RS485 adapter.

Box 1 – Blue tit roosting & daytime visits

Box 2 – Blue tit was roosting but may have moved to box 1. Some daytime blue tit visits.

We have 6 internal cameras and one external camera running again. Blue tits are roosting in boxes 2, 4 and 7 and visiting box 1. There has been interest shown in box 5 by both blue tits and great tits but no activity in box 3.

Re-Starting – February 2012

Unfortunately we had a mishap with the disk containing most of last year’s data. What remained of last year’s captures are the archive – click here. A new server has been put together and will be on line soon. In the meantime, the cameras are being re-installed.

Box 1 has an IR modified Axis 2100 fitted giving timed uploads every 30 minutes.

There are 5 surviving great tit chicks out of the 7 that hatched. One died last week after a day, or so, out of the nest cup. Another must have also died as there are only 5 visibly active now. The parents have started to feed the chicks through the nest box hole, at times.

Last Blue Tit Fledged

After a couple of days on its own, the last of the blue tits fledged yesterday. In all about 32 blue tit chicks fledged from 4 boxes.

We now only have the great tits in box 3. The internal mono camera has been replaced by a colour one and the external camera has been fixed in colour mode.

8 blue tits fledged from Box 1 on 26th May but not before a greater spotted woodpecker visited again.

The great tit chicks started to hatch a couple of days ago in box 3.

The blue tits started fledging 2 days ago from box 7. By yesterday there was only one left. It seems to be ok and was still being fed this evening.

The woodpeckers are back and have visited box 7 a few times. Hopefully the reinforced front will keep them out.

The blue tits have started to feed the chicks through the hole of box 1.

Blue Tits Fledged from 2 Boxes

8 blue tits fledged from Box 5 on the 20th May. The nine blue tits, in box 4, fledged over two days with the last going this morning.

It looks like those in box 1 will be the next to go with box 7 being the last of the blue tits in camera boxes.

The great tit is incubating 8 eggs in box 3. It can’t be healthy in there since the nest was re-built on top of some dead chicks.
