We just managed to get the camera on this box
in time. The blue tits nested in the end compartment of a sparrow terrace. The
box is about 3m above ground on the west faceng end of a shed. There has been a
nest box in this position for a long time. Great tits occupied the previous box
(a large, single unit).
It looks like one fo the parents has a
malformed or injured foot or leg. It was noticiable that the bird would
sometimes stumble on landing or when exiting the hole.
We are not sure how may fledged since only 2
were confirmed as flying away but some may have been missed by capture
system.
